CONTEST : Student-business collaboration

Publication date : June,26 2017

The French Footwear Federation is running a contest promoting “student-business collaboration” from 24 June to 2 July

The organization is challenging students on BTS vocational training courses in footwear to craft a pair of shoes.

Pupils from various secondary schools – Lycée d'Alembert in Paris, Lycée du Dauphiné in Romans-sur-Isère and Lycée de la Mode in Cholet – have made shoes from scratch, based on one of the set themes: Zero-gravity, Trompe-l'oeil and optical illusions, and heroic fantasy films.

They have carried out all aspects of the project: from creating a mock-up to selecting materials, while handling sponsorship, assembly and the finishing touches. Around one hundred of the steps required to create a finished shoe involve manual processes.

Each student is being backed by a company throughout the assignment. Some stages of production have been completed within the companies’ workshops, while others have taken place at school.

The corporate partners are: Arche, Chaussures Boissy, France Mode, Joseph Malinge, La Maison Massaro, Pindière, Robert Clergerie, Le Soulier Français and Laure Bassal.

Now, the pupils are putting their finished work to an online vote. There will be one winner for each theme.

Online users are encouraged to add comments to their favourite design from each of the three themes on the Federation French Signature FB Page. The federation will also choose three voters at random to win a prize bundle from the French brands Manufacture Degorce, La Maison de l’Espadrille and Rondinaud.

For more information on the pupils’ creations, you will find reports on this website from each step of the production process.
